It is always nice to come across a piece of equipment that was designed with future adjustability in mind. Perhaps a little known fact is that the bonnet (hood) catch on a series rover can be adjusted to compensate for wear and change over the years.
There is a nut above the spring that locks the setting in place. Once the nut is loosened a flat screwdriver can be used in the end to adjust the length of the catch peg very accurately to take up any slack. When the appropriate setting is achieved the nut is re-tightened to lock it in. Accompanied with a proper bonnet filler strip this can take out much of the play and rocking that is common with series land rover bonnets.
